I'm Chelsea.

I’m constantly looking at travel products designed to make traveling more “enjoyable”, but there are very few I am truly excited about. The Carry On Cocktail Kit is one of those rarities.

The Carry On Cocktail Kit

I feel like this was made for me. I am not a “vodka soda with lime” girl. Boring, boring, boring. Vodka doesn’t taste good and the other 2 components add little to no flavor. It might be the skinny girl drink, but yuck. At least add a splash of something with flavor.

Here’s where The Carry On Cocktail Kit comes in and changes everything. I don’t really drink on flights (unless I’m in first class just because I love that bubbly), mainly because the choices are awful. Since I’m not a vodka soda fan, I’m stuck with sugary, artificial juices and sodas that don’t even taste good. Often the wine selections aren’t the best either, so I order plain water and fly sans-alcohol.

But sometimes you just want a good cocktail on a flight. You’re heading somewhere tropical or fun, maybe a bachelor or bachelorette party or just a good ol’ vacation, and you want to get the party started. Dilemma for the picky drinker? Not anymore!

Offering 4 different kits, there’s a Carry On Cocktail Kit for everyone. There’s a kit if you fancy an Old Fashioned, Champagne Cocktail, Gin & Tonic, and of course the Moscow Mule.

I recently tried the Moscow Mule kit and immediately added this to my travel essentials list. First off, it’s fun. Secondly, it tastes way better than that boring vodka soda. And finally, you automatically become the cool kid on the plane. Who doesn’t want that?

Step One

Pour your recently served soda water into your fancy copper mug and squeeze the lime in there. (Warning: your seat mates may watch you in fascination because they didn’t realize they were seated next to a craft cocktail bartender today).

Step Two

Add your liquor of choice. I chose vodka this time around purely for the sake of getting optimal photos for this post. On a normal day I might choose gin or bourbon to make a Gin or Kentucky Mule. You can order the alcohol on the airplane or get super classy and bring travel sized bottles in your carry-on. I might prefer the latter because you can choose the brand and don’t get stuck with the airplane well liquor.

Step Three

Measure out a jigger size of ginger syrup and pour into the drink. Or you can do as I do and just pour the entire bottle in. I like my drinks to pack a little bit of punch.

Step Four

The cherry on top of this whole cocktail deal is when you bring your own extra ingredients such as fruit and herbs. I chose organic mixed berries this time around, conveniently packing them in a little to-go cup (TSA-approved!) This little addition just made this a Berry Moscow Mule… boom.

Wanna be a real craft cocktail bartender? Take it up a notch and don’t just bring fruit but bring herbs too. Maybe you’re feeling a strawberry basil moscow mule. Or blueberry mint. Heck, maybe even grapefruit rosemary.

Step Five

Stir it all up. Mash those berries too if that’s what you fancy.

Now ENJOY and make all of the other passengers jealous. Maybe you’ll even disembark with a bartending job… or at least a lot of new friends.

Safe travels y’all!

Best,

Chelsea Rose Martin
