Let me preface this by saying I have never done a juice cleanse. Don’t get me wrong I drink a lot of juice, but for that to be all I consume ALL day? I like food. It’s the best part of my day. How on earth am I going to only drink juice all day?
But I have been feeling like I need a major body reset. With so much travel lately and a lot of all-inclusive resorts in my near future, my body was craving it. Detox needed to happen.
Which brings me to Juice Society. These organic, raw, cold-pressed juices are handmade in Austin, Texas. They offer three different cleanses that are $60 per day or you can create your own cleanse. Plus they deliver fresh right to your door if you want. Seriously, the amount of freshness in these juices can’t be beat. They truly make them right before arriving on your doorstep.
Not ready for a full on cleanse? Pick up singular juices at the SFC Downtown Farmers Market on Saturdays & Texas Farmers Market at Mueller on Sundays each week!
Now on to what my juice cleanse day was like…
The Juice Cleanse Day
8am: The General (cucumber, celery, romaine, kale, spinach, dandelion greens, parsley, lemon, ginger, himalayan salt)
At 7am I had a glass of warm water, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, & cayenne pepper. I had my first juice an hour later along with a bite of banana because I was heading to a 8:30am RIDE spin class. This might be my new favorite green juice EVER. It is not sweet but also not bitter. I hate how a lot of green juices sold in store have so much sugar in them (even if it’s all natural I sometimes don’t want THAT much). This one you can tell is minimal on the sugar!
10am: The OG (purified h20, lemon, maple syrup, cayenne)
The juice is very similar to what I drink every morning, so clearly I enjoyed it. It’s refreshing with a little zest, and I could just feel my body detoxing while drinking it. I also had a tablespoon of raw almond butter because I needed a little bit more energy post-workout.
At 11am I went to Caffe Medici to get some work done and ordered an organic jasmine green tea.
12pm: OMGreens (kale, cucumber, celery, apple, romaine, lemon)
This was the sweeter of the two green juices which I welcomed whole-heartedly after what felt like a fairly acidic morning. That’s something I love about this cleanse. You finish a juice and might crave a certain type of taste, but lucky for you the next juice will most likely accommodate that.
I continued to drink LOTS of water as well to aid in the flushing out process and staying hydrated. You will feel like you are drinking a lot during this cleanse, but it’s all so good for you!
2pm: The General (cucumber, celery, romaine, kale, spinach, dandelion greens, parsley, lemon, ginger, himalayan salt)
The General again! Just as good as the first time I had it this morning. I found myself gulping this one down.
4pm: Activated Lemonaide (purified h20, activated charcoal, lemon, agave)
I like this one better than the lemon one in the morning, and I cannot wait for the Juice Society store to open up because I will probably go there and drink one of these every single day I’m in Austin. It is SO good! You might feel a little strange drinking it because it is literally the color black, but that activated charcoal is doing so many good things for your body. And it doesn’t stain your teeth or anything like you think it would! You probably should drink this with a straw though as well as the other lemon-based drink.
6pm: Spiced Cashew (activated cashews, purified h20, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, dates, vanilla, himalayan salt)
Ah, the juice I was looking forward to the most all day. This juice closely resembles a smoothie I make daily (just add frozen bananas and some cacao), so my excitement was justified. This juice was the perfect way to end a day full of greens and acidic flavors. It tasted like dessert and didn’t feel like a “juice” at all.
Main Takeaway
Anyone can do a juice cleanse. I am the definition of someone who plans my entire day, week, everything around food. I wake up early because I am excited to eat what I’ve planned for breakfast, and I look forward to cooking good quality meals in the evening for dinner. Even on the road, I pack good snacks so that I have something to look forward to. But I survived a juice cleanse! Actually, I enjoyed a juice cleanse. And I felt so much better and refreshed once it finished. Just try it out!
I CANNOT WAIT for the Juice Society brick-and-mortar store to open up on South Lamar in Austin oh so soon! It opens in April (aka just weeks away), so be sure to check it out! I guarantee I will be a regular there.
Safe travels y’all!
