I'm Chelsea.

There’s something already so special about the San Jose Del Cabo area, and Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Resort is the cherry on top.

Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cabo San Lucas, it truly feels like its own sanctuary but still embraces the magic of Cabo. The deep blue waters, crashing waves, and desert scenery that are so characteristic to Baja California are just as prevalent here.

Other added bonuses about staying in the San Jose Del Cabo area? It is closer to the airport and so many amazing restaurants such as Flora Farms.

I stayed at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos twice in a month. Yeah you heard that right. I got on a plane, went home for a week, then flew right back to the same resort. So although I’m no expert, I definitely have my grasp on what the resort is all about.

The Resort

This stunning, adults-only, all-inclusive, 500-suite resort’s spacious layout ensures you always feel relaxed and never truly feel like it’s busy.

With both a main pool with activities plus another pool dedicated more towards tranquility, you have swimming options to suit any mood. You also have direct access to 3 miles of secluded beaches, but just make sure you don’t swim in the ocean there as the currents are very strong!

Dine at five a la carte restaurants, a buffet, a cafe, a grill, and 24-hour room service and get your drink on at five bars and lounges. There are numerous locations with ocean views for evening receptions (for all you event and wedding planners!) I loved our reception on the Barracuda Bar Deck overlooking the beach.

For the active traveler, enjoy yoga, Pilates & water aerobics classes, beach & pool volleyball, beach walks, shuffleboard, a golf putting green, tennis court, and dancing lessons. If you feel like participating in a more relaxed way, try the cooking lessons, tequila tastings, Spanish lessons, or indulge in a spa treatment. I personally thought the guacamole making class by the pool looked fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and the spa saunas and hot tubs.

Don’t get nervous that you’re too far away from the action – twice a week the resort offers a bar crawl downtown Cabo San Lucas for just $35 per person!

The Room

If you’re looking for a Baja feel in your accommodations, this is the place. Warm, rich colors with exquisite wood and tile work adorn all areas of the room. The bathroom was huge with two separate sink areas to make getting ready for multiple people easy. And can we talk about the huge soak-in tub… swoon. I’m not sure if it was because of Cabo’s desirable weather when I’m so used to insanely humid locations, but I sat on my balcony a lot more than usual at this resort.

Food & Beverage

You would think with how many Secrets Resorts I stay at, I would be sick of the food. The fabulous thing however is that each Secrets is similar but does their own spin on things! The one thing I am sick of is really taking the whole “all-inclusive” thing to the max and loading up each time, so I’ve definitely formulated healthy habits and hacks at these resorts (another blog post to come on that). Secrets Puerto Los Cabos surprisingly had some great healthy options (sliced avocado on the buffets!) and dietary alternatives. I mean there’s ALMOND MILK at Coco Cafe! That never happens!

My Favorites

  • Breakfast:
    • Egg white omelet with all the veggies and FRESH avocado (another first I’ve seen!) at Market Cafe. You can also make avocado toast with a fried egg that’s good.
    • Banana + berries + almond milk + cinnamon smoothie at Coco Cafe (added bonus: bring your own Vega One protein packet!)
  • Lunch:
    • Ceviche Tirado, Shrimp & Steak Skewers, and Fish of the Day at Seaside Grill
  •  Dinner:
    • Sashimi, any Sushi rolls, and Thai Salad at Himitsu
    • Tomato Soup and Avocado Salad (request entree-sized portion) at Portofino
    • Grilled Octopus and Tortilla Soup at El Patio

Safe travels y’all!

Best,

Chelsea Rose Martin
