If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever be staying in a 7-star hotel, I would have never believed you. Little did I know that I would be heading to Dubai on a business trip. We were going to be staying at the Madiant Jumeirah properties for the week, but I was arriving a day early so I wanted to see what else was nearby. Enter into the picture Burj Al Arab.
This iconic hotel is best known for its sail-shape (which I am sure you have seen photos of). It is also the only (they say it’s not self-proclaimed) “7-star” hotel, mainly due to its beyond exceptional service and over-the-top amenities.
While I was only here for about 12 hours, I still fully had the 7-star experience. Check it out here…
The Suite
The caliber of the suites at Burj Al Arab are what steal the show. I had the lowest category room which is a Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite, and you could have fooled me and told me I was staying in the Presidential Suite. The two-storied suite features a foyer, large living space, small office area, wet bar and a powder room. A grand staircase then takes you upstairs where you are greeted with a walk-in closet/getting ready space. From there you head left into the massive bedroom with incredible views, or you can head right into the large bathroom complete with full-size his and hers Hermes products.
Some of my other favorite amenities? The automatic shades, complimentary sparkling date juice, assorted Arabic sweets, Apple computer with printer, the comfiest slippers ever and 24-7 butler service.

Breakast
The breakfast options are endless when you stay at Burj Al Arab. Their buffet is truly one of the best I have experienced, and there is something for everyone. I of course had to try a little bit of everything so I went with a made-to-order egg white omelet, made-to-order waffles with fresh berries & chocolate dipping sauce, and an assortment of fruit with watermelon juice and coffee. Also I mean check out those pastry selections!
I chose to dine al fresco at Bab Al Yam, but you can also choose to have breakfast in Junsui or the privacy of your suite.
Breakfast for two is included when you book your stay with Passport To Friday!
Terrace & Pool
The pool at Burj Al Arab is quite the showstopper with it’s vast size and infinity edge. It’s perfect to cool off on those hot Dubai days, but there are also hot tubs in case the Dubai heat isn’t enough for you.
I chose one of the shaded beds by the pool (complimentary), and they immediately brought over a bag filled with cold water bottles. These beds are on sand which gives you the feel of being at the beach.
The terrace bar had cute touches like striped straws to go with your drinks and an impressive drink menu.
Cabanas
If you want to truly have the best pool experience at Burj Al Arab, do yourself a favor and book one of their 32 cabanas. These are the best cabanas I have seen and is definitely the place to see and be seen. Book one of their 8 Royal Cabanas to have your own private veranda overlooking the ocean as well as a private bathroom and shower. All cabanas have dedicated butler service, a dining and beverage menu available, complimentary coffee and tea service, a cabana spa menu, and mini bar.
