I seek out rooftops in nearly every destination I go, but there’s just something so special about the rooftops in Athens. To be able to drink and dine with a view of the Acropolis which holds so many years of history, it gives me chills just remembering it. These rooftops are truly spectacular and I highly recommend making it a point to go to them while in Athens.
A For Athens
A For Athens is the first place I went when I arrived to Athens, and I was in complete awe. It has a stunning view of the Acropolis but also Monastiraki Square which makes for some great people watching. It is difficult to score a table on top so I suggest getting there early to snag one.

Bar 360
Located right in the heart of Monastiraki Square, Bar 360’s location truly can’t be beat. I found that there seem to be more locals here than A For Athens, which I like. I just had wine here but they also have a cocktail menu and serve food. Tables are hard to come by during prime times so I suggest making a reservation if you plan to dine here.

Grand Bretagne Roof Garden
GB Roof Garden was the rooftop of my hotel so I had the pleasure of dining here every morning for breakfast (seriously, rough life). The view of the Acropolis is so good that they even have a “selfie spot” to get the perfect picture. Grab a cocktail for sunset then enjoy a divine dinner here.

Dionysos
Dionysos was probably my favorite meal in Athens, and the view ain’t too shabby either. Perched just below the Acropolis, you get more of a close up view of the Parthenon. There is casual dining on the first level, but I suggest you shell out the extra bucks to dine in the restaurant. The food is amazing (specifically the octopus, deconstructed gyros, and the crepe dessert!) This may not necessarily be a “rooftop”, but it offers outdoor seating, you walk up stairs, and has an incredible view…. that works in my book!

Public Cafe
A bar on top of a 5 story electronic retail store with an incredible view of Syntagma Square? Yep, it exists. The picture above is actually from when I sat and watched a protest from this rooftop. Protests or not, Public Cafe is a great place to sit for hours and people watch.
