I'm Chelsea.

I absolutely fell in love with Boston. Yes, it was about 25 degrees and snowing. Yes, it was January so I should have expected that. Yes, I know that’s nothing compared to their other winter storms. Regardless, I love Boston.

Part of the reason I think I loved Boston so much was because of my location. I stayed at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, and I have to say it was a prime location. Close to shops, restaurants, and sights to see, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Although I did not have a ton of free time (darn that little thing called work), I still feel like I got a good grasp on what Boston’s Back Bay is all about. A few of my favorite things? The amount of healthy food restaurants, the number of ClassPass studios within walking distance, the warm welcoming nature of the local Bostonians (everyone was so nice, has everyone had this experience too?), and the architecture (I’m a sucker for a good, historic East Coast town). I was also shocked how healthy of a city Boston is. There wasn’t an empty bike in my 7am Saturday spin class, the healthy food restaurants were more buzzing than the non-healthy, and in fact I don’t even remember really seeing fast food eateries.

Well here’s my quick healthy guide to Boston’s Back Bay!

Sweetgreen

Salad & bowls paradise! With a variety of flavors and toppings, you will never get bored here. I did a Create Your Own with shredded kale, quinoa & farro, local hubbard squash, local apples, raw beets, roasted chicken, and vegan spicy cashew dressing. The total came out to $9.20.

Other menu items that look fab are:

BFX Studio

I was immediately drawn towards BFX Studio because of how gorgeous it looked in passing on the street. After checking my ClassPass and finding out it was on there, I signed up for a class, showed up, and loved it.

Ride Republic and Master Classes are offered at this boutique fitness studio. Ride Republic classes are spin classes that include 50-minute Ride & Core and 60-minute Fusion classes. Master classes are group exercises in which there’s more of a variety with classes like BFX Barre, BFX Burn, BFX Build, Box and Bell, and more. I took the 50-minute BFX Build strength training class which utilized equipment like TRX, kettlebells, Olympic rings, UGI stability balls, 360 Step, etc.

Non-ClassPass Pricing: Single class $32

Velo City

Velo City is the way I like my spin classes to be. Dark room, high energy, loud music, every bike filled… doesn’t get much better. The rides are typically 45-minutes (but occasionally 60 minutes), and what makes this studio extra special and unique is that EVERY SINGLE class is a themed ride! I mean how fun is that? My 7am Saturday morning 60-minute ride was packed and the theme was Missy Elliott vs. Pharrell so you know we had a good time!

Non-ClassPass Pricing: First class $12; Military, student, public safety & teacher single ride $14; Single ride (normal) $24

Safe travels y’all!

Best,

Chelsea Rose Martin
