I am going to hold nothing back, this airport is awful. It’s old, does not have re-fillable water stations, and the food options are limited. Who knows maybe it is just Concourse B, but MSY step up yo game.
After the gluttonous experience that New Orleans is (and worth every dang bit of it), my body was begging for something healthy. Too much time spent on Bourbon Street left me with no time to grab something from a grocery store, so my in-flight snack was left to the mercy of MSY Concourse B. Praline Connection looked tempting yes, but I was so happy to come across a few more health-conscious choices.
Although the options are nowhere near endless, I scouted out a few healthy choices at MSY. Truthfully I recommend packing your own food if possible, but there are Quest bars (hallelujah), greek yogurt, hummus cups, and more.
Smoothie King
Love/hate relationship with Smoothie King. Their smoothies tend to be high in sugar, but where they really excel in my book is in the grab-and-go department.
- Smoothies (20 oz – $6.19 / 32 oz – $8.39)
- Carrot Kale Dream: carrots, kale, bananas, orange juice, apple juice, vanilla protein powder (222 cal for 20 oz, 333 cal for 32 oz); be careful with possible high sugar content for this one
- Immune Builder: strawberries, bananas, herbal nutrient blend, turbinado, soy protein (380 cal for 20 oz, 570 cal for 32 oz)
- Grab & Go Items:
- Greek Yogurt ($3.29)
- Fruit Cup ($4.49)
- Veggie Cup ($3.99)
- Kind Bars
- Quest Bars

LP Bistro
Just your average airport bistro with sandwiches, wraps and salads. There are also yogurt parfaits, hummus cups, and other small snacks
- Turkey Wrap ($9.75): sliced turkey breast and provolone cheese with lettuce and tomatoes
- Veggie Wrap ($9.75): spring mix, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, red cabbage, squash, zucchini
- Strawberry Spinach Salad ($10.25): baby spinach, grapes, strawberries, mandarin oranges
- Greek Salad ($9.75): romaine lettuce, red & green peppers, black olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, banana peppers, feta cheese
- Yogurt Parfait ($4.99): yogurt, fruit, granola
- Hummus Cup ($3.25): Sabra hummus & pretzels
Hours: 5am – 8pm
Located near Gate B7
Subway
Another food & beverage outlet I wouldn’t typically recommend, but it is possible to get a filling and relatively nutrient-dense meal here. You pick your own toppings, but I suggest you load up on veggies and choose non-cream based sauces (plain mustard and oil & vinegar are best).
- Turkey Breast Sandwich
- Turkey Breast or Veggie Delite Chopped Salad ($6.00)
Hours: 5am – 8pm
Located between Gate B4 and B8
Safe travels y’all!
Best,
